Tasmania is the place to be every New Years with several major yacht races converging in Hobart and coinciding with the local seafood festival. The Iconic Derwent River is the focus of this event as we clean it up to protect the wildlife of the southern ocean.

The event will be hosted at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and we will be working closely with local organisations such as Our Coast, Our Mission, Bridgewater Gagebrook Clean Up Group, Tas Uni Dive Club, Sea Shepherd Tasmania, Derwent Estary Program and 10 Little Pieces to organise several land clean ups if you don’t want to hit the water.

Either join one of the events listed below or you can get a group of friends together, spend a day out on the boat, choose a bay, inlet or creek and pick up every bit of debris you can find. If you don’t have a boat you can clean the beach.

Our Coast, Our Mission will be in Elwick Bay. For more details visit https://www.facebook.com/events/428573191170472/
Sea Shepherd Tasmania will be in Montague Bay from 0900-1100. Contact Michael on 1300 OCEANS for more details.
Derwent Estuary Program will be cleaning from the RYCT from 0900 and we have the Tas Uni Dive Club & Tasmanian Scuba Diving Club will be cleaning the waterways out the front of the marina. Contact each group directly to find out more details.
After your clean up, return to the RYCT where we will host an audit of the debris and have all the groups network together.

For more information please contact Ian on 0412 932 808 or info@oceancrusaders.org

This event is part of the Ocean Crusaders Sydney to Hobart campaign. Yes we will be joining the fleet sailing south in the 75th running of the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race with an Ocean Crusaders vessel promoting the need to look after our oceans. This clean up will cap off events for the summer.
