The weather is looking fantastic over the weekend and my fridge is looking empty.

Heading to Huon Island to harvest abalone and crayfish amongst the spectacular kelp forests. This will be easy diving and open water divers are welcome. The unusual water conditions – saltwater overlain by dark-coloured, tannin-rich freshwater from the Huon River can result in unexpected marine life. The dark freshwater restricts light penetration, and it is common to find marine life which is usually found in much deeper waters.

You do not need a fishing licence to come on this trip, not everyone will be chasing a feed. A licence is essential if you are going to be harvesting abalone and/or crayfish, details can be found here: https://dpipwe.tas.gov.au/sea-fishing-aquaculture/recreational-fishing/recreational-sea-fishing-licences

We will be meeting Sunday 5th December at the Dive Shed at 7.00am, driving to Charlotte Cove to launch the boat/s.

There can be a bit of swell in this area and we will be on a boat so please consider your own safety and prepare accordingly.

Anyone unwell must not attend club events.
Hand sanitiser will be available at the dive.
Please maintain social distancing of 1.5m wherever possible during the event.
