 Hey Bubblers!!!

This dive is going to be a sick trip down to Bruny Island to dive Courts Island / Courts Rocks.

Navionics shows there should be some great diving for Open Waters and Advanced divers alike around the island and nearby rocks.

Nick and I have been talking about this one for a while, and it should be sick. The trusty Tassie diving Bible, ‘Dive Tasmania’ by Mike Jacques says –

“the western side of Courts Island is often sheltered from south-easterly weather and offers fairly safe anchorage in moderate conditions. Although remote, the area is WORTH THE EFFORT. The whole area is very beautiful and tends to enjoy good visibility. The cliffs drop away sharply into over 20 metres of water. The bottom here consists of a series of reefs broken by long sandy gullies. A lot of small marine life grows on rock faces covered in colourful sponges. This is a difficult area to reach. very calm weather is required.

The Plan.

Meet Nick and I at the Dive Shed (reach out to Facebook Discussions if a lift is needed) 7:30am sharp to kit up the boat, on road by 8am. Then we will all cruise down either the Huon or the Channel (can pickup lunch at Margate) where we will launch from Dover or Gordon depending on weather conditions.

We then cruise across to the southern section of beautiful Bruny Island, use sounder to find local bommies for drops and have an amazing day of remote diving on Courts Island and Courts Rocks.

Pack:

  • Warm clothes for boat ride
  • Lunch
  • Sea sickness tablets (ask for them at dive shed if you need them)
  • Keep an eye on emails for our weather updates.

Cross fingers the weather gods play nice!!
