The 55m former hopper barge the ‘Troy D’ was scuttled in 2007 in Mercury Passage. There is full access to every compartment offering fascinating diving opportunities to explore the engine room and other areas. The bottom of the boat sits at a max depth of 24m, if you stay on the wreck you can stay above the 18m limit for open water divers – so all divers welcome.
The Troy D is a 15 mins boat ride from Triabunna, 1km off the coast of Maria Island.
Nothing is more exciting than a new Dive Site ! Especially when it is so epic, you dive thru colorful gullys and caves filled with marine life (think loads of boarfish, cuttlefish and parrotfish). You will probably reach the pinnacle of diving euphoria when you see the “three sleeve wonder” a swim through that goes in three different directions with several of chambers to its sides. All that surrounded by beautiful clear blue waters off pristine Maria Island.
There are plenty of cracks and nooks too look into so don’t forget a torch !
Meeting at Dive Sheds, Olinda Grove Sports Grounds
Use of club Regs, BCD and weights are included in the cost of the dive if needed, you will need your own wetsuit, fins and mask.
